Deepika Padukone opted for a simple Raw Mango sari to kick off Padmavati promotions, but we think the look was too watered down with nude shades.
That Deepika Padukone can don ethnic looks like a master is undisputed, especially when it comes to her outfits in the iconic roles that left us gaping in admiration. From Bajirao Mastani to Ramleela, the actor nailed ethnic wear and this time too we can’t wait to see the fashion experiments the fashionista will pull off in her upcoming movie, Padmavati. In keeping with the tone of the movie, Padukone has been sporting a lot of ethnic wear these days, and we’ve loved most of them.
However, the actor could not quite cut it this time on Day 1 of the movie promotions. Clad in a silk sari by Raw Mango in a nude shade, the actor failed to look her usual glamorous self. The floral prints did add some vibrancy to the otherwise bland sari, but still fell flat. Celebrity stylist Shaleena Nathani could have done a better job with styling, but she chose to team the sari with a sheer-sleeved nude blouse, which did nothing to enliven the outfit.
Statement earrings from Curio Cottage jewellery, which would have splendid otherwise, failed to add the much-needed pop of colour to the ensemble. Also failing to impress was the make-up by artist Anil C, who opted for a dew-faced make-up with nude lips. Pin straight hair, parted in the middle rounded out the actor’s look and we think simplicity was not the key to gorgeousness this time.
